Tools with a Mission enables people to earn a living and to support themselves.

In many countries of the world people have few skills, little education and no means of earning a living. A switch from aid dependency to self sufficiency is impossible without help.

TWAM is a Christian Charity started twenty five years ago, and has since then given this help by collecting and refurbishing tools and equipment no longer required in the UK and sending them overseas.

St Aidans actively supports the work of TWAM with members of the Mens Group  who collect unwanted tools in the area and then sort and carry out preliminary refurbishment in a disused  former boiler-room at the Church now equipped as a workshop. Also supporting TWAM are the members of the KnitWits knitting group at the Church who knit blanket squares and childrens clothing to TWAM patterns which also double as soft  packing in the containers shipped abroad! We then deliver everything to TWAM’s regional collection centre in Coventry.

In response to educational needs, it has recently  launched a Scholar Pack Project. This invites interested people to fill a plastic wallet (provided by TWAM) with papers, pens, rubbers, pencils etc. to help primary school pupils. A number of local schools are participating in this with us.

TWAM sponsor, Archbishop of York Dr John Sentamu says,

“Sending good quality tools into Uganda, Nigeria and India provides an opportunity for those receiving them to earn a living and make the first step to change their world. Please join me in supporting Tools with a Mission in this important work".
