1865 Born son of a Clergyman in Colne.

 

BA Graduate of London University 1891; King’s College London 1892

Became a secondary school teacher

1893 Ordained Deacon at Manchester Cathedral

1894 Ordained Priest. Curate of St. John’s Facit

 

1897 Curate of St Alban’s under Rev. H Edmonds with responsibility for  Sudden Mission

1908 Curate in charge of St Aidan’s Conventional District

 

1914 Vicar of St Aidan’s Parish

Chapel Clerk of the Rural Deanery of Rochdale

Married to Emily with one daughter, Edith.

 

Hobbies included photography, church music, science, astronomy, drawing. Keen cyclist and motor cyclist.

involved with Church Lad’s Brigade.

 

1928 Taken ill on holiday at Wrexham and transferred  to Birch Hill Hospital. Resigned in September and succeeded by Rev. JD Smith.

 

Rev. Hartley Harrison died April 2nd 1930 and is buried in Heywood Cemetery.

The Church Tower was completed in his memory.
